LeBron James Rookie Cards

December 28, 2011-Dwyane Wade hits the game-winning shot as the Miami Heat beat the Charlotte Bobcats 96-95. LeBron James chips in with 35 points as the Heat move to 3-0 on this young 2011-12 NBA season. View D-Wade's clutch shot by clicking here!

May 18, 2011-The 2011 NBA Playoffs are well under way and LeBron James and the Heat are in a battle with Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference finals. Game one did not go the Heats way as they were blasted by the bulls by the score of 103-82.

LeBron James just completed his first year with the Miami Heat after playing his first seven seasons with his home town Cleveland Cavaliers. At the beginning of the 2010-11 NBA season, Myself, like many other LeBron James rookie card collectors, were wondering just how the new shift to Miami would effect LeBron's rookie cards.

Why were we wondering this? Well, in Cleveland, LeBron was the main man! In Miami, he would be sharing the ball with Dwyane Wade and newly acquired Chris Bosh. So, LeBron James overall scoring should go down, right? Well, kind of. I just took a peek at LeBron's final numbers on the Pro Basketball Reference website for the 10-11 NBA season and although they were down a little, he still had a great scoring season.

LeBron James averaged 26.7 points per game in 2010-11. Not that much below what he averaged in 2009-10 at 29.7 per game. I was kind of surprised to see this stat. I thought his scoring would drop off quite a bit, but it didn't. So, what did this mean for LeBron James rookie cards? Not much as they were, and still are, selling pretty well on eBay.

Below are a few prices paid for LeBron James rookie cards on eBay.

2003-04 LeBron James SPX jersey auto numbered to 750 sold for $1,076

2003-04 LeBron James Sweet Spot Shot Signatures auto sold for $1,035

2003-04 LeBron James Exquisite rookie logo 3-color patch auto numbered to 100 sold for $1,025

These are just a few examples of LeBron James rookie cards that have been sold on eBay. His rookie cards are not fetching huge prices like they used to, and that may be due to our struggling economy. Collectors seem to be buying the lower end cards, such as the LeBron James 2003-04 topps Chrome rookie card. I just checked the 'completed" listings on eBay and there were a total of 69 Topps Chrome LeBrons that were listed, and 48 of them were sold. If LeBron and the Heat go on and win the NBA title in 2010-11, look for his rookies to take a spike up in price. But, they have to get by Derrick Rose and the Bulls first, and that won't be easy.

With the NBA season so close to starting, look for LeBron's rookie cards to start heating up again as he begins another assault on NBA defenses in 2009-10.

LeBron's rookie cards can be found in most of the 2003-04 basketball card issues. Upper Deck and Topps lead the way.

The premium rookie cards of King James are already very high in value and are out of reach for sports card collectors on a budget. Like his 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite rookie cards.

If 2003-04 Exquisite is beyond your budget right, don't worry. There are still some other less expensive LeBron James rookie cards that you can pick up. For example, Topps Chrome, Topps Pristine, Bowman Chrome, Fleer Ultra, and Topps Finest offer some nice LeBron James rookies to collect.

Of course, the 2003-04 sets offer some other nice rookie cards like Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and more. So you can't go wrong with any 2003-04 product.

October 10, 2009-Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James will be entering his 7th NBA season in about 3 weeks when the Cavs start their 2009-10 season.

LeBron is coming into the 09-10 season with huge career numbers. He has a career 27.5 scoring average per game. LeBron also has 12,993 career points with 3,159 assists. As well as 830 steals and 405 blocks.

October 14, 2009-LeBron James, Shaq and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers open their 2009-10 NBA season October 27, 2009 at home against KG, Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics. It will be interesting to see how newly acquired Shaquille O'Neal will help LeBron and the Cavs.

Meanwhile, the Celtics are on a mission as they have a healthy Kevin Garnett again. Also, add in Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and Glenn "BIG BABY" Davis, the Celtics are loaded and could reach the NBA Finals again this year.

October 27, 2009-Well, Game #1 of the Cleveland Cavaliers' 2009-10 season is in the books. The Boston Celtics spoiled the party at Quicken Loans Arena by beating the Cavs 95-89.

The Celtics, as usual, had balance scoring from their lineup. Kevin Garnett looks healthy again and he scored 13 points. Paul Pierce added 23 points and Ray Allen 16. Also chipping in for the Celtics was the newly acquired Rasheed Wallace, who scored 12 points in his Boston debut.

LeBron James had 38 points for the Cavaliers and newly acquired Shaquille O'Neal added 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Cavaliers came so close to making the NBA Finals last year but they lost to the Orlando Magic. This season they will have an even tougher road to get there. Why? Because the Celtics are reloaded and if Kevin Garnett stays healthy all season, they should be the front runner to make the Finals. But like Doug Collins said tonight on the TNT broadcast, "Watch out for Orlando!".
